Parliament speaker vows no letdown against Taliban

KABUL: Mir Rahman Rahmani, parliament speaker emphasized his support for the government forces in fight with Taliban, but said that no party of the ongoing war would win and the people of Afghanistan are the only sufferers of the war.
Rahmani said Monday that the government forces took over all security responsibilities after the withdrawal of foreign forces.
“I assure our brave security and defense forces to stand with them,” Rahmani said on Monday. He also emphasized on support for the public uprising, a militia-style force that is mobilized by former jihadi commanders and other powerful people. Rahmani called the public uprising force “useful” in strengthening security forces.
He called on his colleagues in the parliament not to spare any efforts in mobilizing and arming people to prevent Taliban advance.
The parliament speaker said that living in peace is a humane and Islamic right of everyone, adding that the people of Afghanistan more deserve this right since they have lived in war for more than four decades.
