AT Monitoring Desk-KABUL: Urging the Pakistani civilian political leadership and military establishment to normalize ties with Afghanistan and extend support to Kabul in fight against terrorism, President of the Awami National Party (ANP) Asfandyar Wali Khan said that Pakistan would also suffer if Afghanistan descends into destabilization.
Addressing the National Youth Organization’s convention in Peshawar at the party’s main office, also known as Bacha Khan Markaz, he said the other day that the entire region would suffer from terrorism if the two neighboring countries and the world players failed to initiate steps and fight terrorism and extremism.
“If someone tried to destabilise Afghanistan, Pakistan will also suffer in its aftermath. Peace in Afghanistan is not only in the interest of the two countries, but also of the whole world,” The News International quoted him as saying.
Asking both Pakistan and Afghanistan to mend their ties, Asfandyar Wali Khan said that no country should interfere into internal matters of another country and jointly work to root out terrorism.
“Both the countries should fight terrorism or else the region would face more instability and violence,” he added.
Reiterating his stance on the Pashtuns’ rights, Asfandyar said that he don’t care if people call him traitor for speaking about protection of Pashtuns’ rights. He added that he would continue to talk about rights of Pashtuns.
He said that ANP didn’t accept the division of the Federally Administered Tribal Areas (FATA) by the British Empire. He furthered that the ANP supported the merger of FATA into Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province.
“I want to erase all the lines drawn by the British Empire and are dividing Pashtuns,” the ANP president said. “I am proud that I am an Afghan”, Asfandyar Wali Khan said. He furthered that the word “Afghan” has been mentioned in the property documents of Maulana Fazalur Rehman, Aftab Ahmad Khan Sherpao and late Qazi Hussain Ahmad—indicating their nationality.
