AT Monitoring Desk-KABUL: The top US Military Gen. in Afghanistan, John Nicholson has showed strong commitment to achieve a goal of peaceful and stable Afghanistan. In his message on Soldiers Day, Nicholson said: “We honor the Afghan security forces who sacrificed their lives in defense of their country.” He furthered, NATO’s Resolute Support (RS) mission was limited to training, advising and supporting the Afghan security forces, aimed at better protection of their country.
“These Afghan forces are our important friends and allies,” Nicholson remarked, asking the Afghans to be proud of their sons and daughters in uniform. NATO stayed committed to a stable and peaceful Afghanistan and would continue supporting the Afghan government, he added. This comes as recently, Gen. John Nicholson demanded for more US troops to be deployed in Afghanistan. He told to the US Senate’s Armed Services Committee that Russia is increasing its influence in Afghanistan and Taliban insurgent groups enjoy safe sanctuaries in Pakistan to undermine US-led NATO mission in Afghanistan. The new US administration is going to bring fundamental and required changes in its policy regarding Afghanistan after completing assessment by the US Defense Ministry.
