Kabul: The World Health Organization (WHO) has issued a warning regarding the potential increase in cases of dengue fever, also known as bone-breaking fever, in Afghanistan as the rainy season commences. In a tweet posted on Sunday, the WHO expressed its preparedness to tackle this disease.
The organization highlighted the need to train health workers in order to effectively manage dengue fever in eastern Afghanistan, where the risk is particularly high. As part of its response efforts, the WHO recently conducted training for 300 doctors, nurses, and laboratory technicians from 18 hospitals and 250 health centers in Kunar, Laghman, Nuristan, and Nangarhar.
In its message, the WHO urged the people of Afghanistan to take necessary precautions to protect themselves and their families from mosquito bites, as this is the primary mode of transmission for dengue fever, BNN reports. It emphasized the importance of mosquito bite prevention in controlling the spread of the disease.
