AT News Report-KABUL: As pro-Dostum protests in the north spiral out of control, Wolesi Jirga of the Parliament ruled on Saturday to assign and send a delegation to meet with protesters and thoroughly investigate the protests that have wreaked havoc in the northern region.
Based upon requests from several lawmakers in the parliament, internal security, defense and judicial commissions of the Lower House were ordered to prepare and dispatch a joint delegation to meet protesters in northern provinces.
Speaker of the Lower House Abdul Rauf Ibrahimi said the House will then make a decision in the light of facts and figures found by thatprobe delegation.
MP Allah Gul Mujahid also urged the Wolesi Jirga to assign a delegation immediately to run a probe into the spreading protests and to find a solution to it.
Heaping criticism on President Ghani, Mujahid said the President heaved hands of Gen. Dostum and Ahmad Zia Masoud calling them ‘heroes’; “but now people are suffering because of and bearing the brunt of an unnecessary political wrangling and tensions between statesmen”.
“It is incumbent upon the government to make a decision to handle and control the situation”.
Saturday was the 11thday of protests that started in Faryab and spread to Jawzjan, Balkh, Sar-i-Pul and some other provinces over the arrest of local police commander Nizamuddin Qaisari.
Following the arrest of Commander Qaisari along with his armed squad of 25 soldiers by the Afghan forces allegedly for insulting security officials at a high-profile meeting, thousands of angry protestors have protested and rallied through several northern cities including Maimana city, demanding an immediate release of the commander.
