By Akhtar M. Nikzad-KABUL: The parliament gave vote of confidence to President Ashraf Ghani’s nominee for interior ministry Taj Mohammad Jahid and candidate for the attorney general office Mohammad Farid Hamidi.
Jahid received 190 votes from 225 of 249 lawmakers present in Saturday’s session, while Hamidi gained 200 votes.
Hamidi is BA in criminal science as well as in law and political sciences from Kabul University. He has master degree in law penalty and in public administration. He has served for 15 years in judiciary organs.
He vowed to fight against corruption and create a transparent and accountable administration.
“I am determined to start struggle against corruption from my office. I am mandated to strengthening the observation, auditing and surveillance system to prevent from corruption and provide effective public services,” the new attorney general mentioned.
He addressed lawmakers to prosecute the entire criminal dossiers without postponement.
Hamidi assured the people’s representatives that innocent people accused of crimes would not be kept in custody and the criminals would receive punishment based on criminal law.
Taj Mohammad Jahid has severed for 22 years in military segments and was recently the head of Zafar 207 military corps.
He said evaluate security situation closely in every province.
Jahid warned current year would be a challenging year, promising to provide action plans with the cooperation of other security organs to stave off the enemy’s irritant plots.
“Police welcome peace and negotiation with those insurgents who put down their guns, but police will continue fighting against those enemies who insist over war and conflict with nation,” he mentioned.
Parliament Speaker Abdul Rauf Ibrahimi called on the president to introduce nominees of ministry of defense, national directorate of security and Afghan Red Crescent Society.
