AT-KABUL: The Wolesi Jirga (WJ)—Lower House of the parliament— resumed its work on Monday after 45-day summer recess.
Growing insecurity in different provinces came under discussion in the Monday’s session.
Expressing his concern over deteriorated law and order situation in Nangarhar, the deputy speaker Zahir Qadeer said that girls are not safe in the province as Daesh was building its muscles while the government is silent.
“We are ready to take weapons and fight the terrorists if the government is unable,” he said.
Farooq Majroh, an MP from Herat, said that ensuring security was the main point of the lawmakers’ discussion. The MPs have travelled to their provinces and prepared their reports about insecurity and many other challenges. The reports will be submitted to the Wolesi Jirga within a few days, added Majroh.
Joblessness, immigration of Afghan youth, poor economy, different laws and memorandum of understandings and electoral reforms are the key issues besides insecurity that would be discussed in the coming sessions, he said.
Majroh said the lawmakers would ask the government to hold parliamentary election as soon as possible.
