AT Monitoring Desk-KABUL: An international conference on empowering Afghan women will be held in Astana, Kazakhstan’s Special Envoy Stanislav Vassilenko said.
The diplomat said that continued support from regional countries and the international community was needed to deal with political and economic challenges, as well as security threats in Afghanistan.
In a statement from the Foreign Ministry in Astana, the ambassador said women and youth occupied a central position in conflict-prevention initiatives.
Kazakhstan would continue the education programme for Afghan citizens with co-financing from the European Union and other partners, he promised.
“Within the framework of our $50 million educational program, about 1,000 Afghan citizens will study in Kazakh universities between 2010 and 2021,” the ambassador added.
