AT-KABUL: The provincial government of southern Kandahar province on Wednesday inaugurated three development projects worth 60 million Afghanis in Dand district, an official said.
The development projects, comprising roads construction, repairing of schools and a retaining wall were inaugurated by deputy governor, Abdul Hanan Munib and the inauguration ceremony was attended by a number of regional directors, local leaders, civil society activists and influential tribal elders.
Displaying the details of projects, the deputy governor said 6.5km road from Haji Baba Zirat to Mansur Ghundi area of the district would be asphalted, adding asphalting the road would cost 41.9 million afghanis to be funded by the Ministry of Rural Rehabilitation and Development (MRRD)
According to the deputy governor, the second development project is constructing a 500 meter retaining wall worth 13 million Afghanis along Trang Road in the said district and thirdly, buildings of ten schools would be repaired at a cost of six million Afghanis to be paid by the US forces in the country.
“The construction works would be completed within nine months,” Hanan Munib said.
He added the provincial administration is committed to uniform development across the province and the public would be satisfied, while implementing the projects in their respective areas.
“Dand is a populated district, but lacking basic facilities of education, healthcare and agriculture,” Abdul Jabbar, a resident of Dand district lodged his complaint.
Moreover, a retaining wall worth 21 million Afghanis, funded by the Rural Rehabilitation Ministry has been under construction.
Education for all, basic infrastructure, job opportunities, national unity and solidarity is the way forward to take Afghanistan tall and prevail peace and stability in the country.
