KABUL: A 6-years old child trapped in a well for more than three days in Qalat, capital of Zabul province, has died, officials confirmed.
The child was named Haidar and fell into a well Jaldak village in Qalat city.
However, the rescue team from the capital was sent to aid in saving the child.
Following the circulation of videos and photos of the scene, which showed Haidar was crying- the acting Minister of Defense, Mullah Mohammad Yaqob and a senior member of the Islamic Emirate, Anas Haqqani paid a visit to Zabul to closely monitor the scene.
“When we arrived here yesterday, we talked with the teams who came from the Ministry of Public Health. The governor was also here, we talked about how to immediately rescue the child,” said the acting Minister of Defense.
“The government did whatever it could to save the child, but unfortunately he couldn’t be saved,” Haqqani said.
According to the residents, the well is 50 meters deep, where his body remained for 96 hours.
“We have brought the rescuers who have never come here before. We have tried to save his life,” said a witness.
The child was buried on Friday afternoon in Zabul.
